Malta PI Payment Institution License
Malta Payment Institutions (PI) are authorized and supervised by the Malta Financial Services Authority (MFSA) in accordance with the Financial Institutions Act and applicable EU payment services rules, Can provide approved payment services but cannot issue electronic money. MiCA authorization for crypto-asset companies should not be written as a PI approval case, PI also does not automatically cover stablecoin or crypto asset services. Applicants must prove capital based on actual activities, governance, Malta practical management, client-funds safeguarding, AML/CFT, ICT and outsourcing arrangements.
